BIOGRAPHY
C.J. Luis is a multifaceted entrepreneur, community leader, and musician based in Southern California. Bringing together decades of family legacy in hospitality with a passion for community involvement and live entertainment, he leads strategic initiatives across business development, civic governance, and musical performance. His passions encompass hotel management, real estate, culinary arts, public safety, politics, and the timeless art of vocal performance.
C.J. Luis represents the fourth generation of the Stovall family legacy, a business that has been around in Anaheim’s hospitality and business community for more than six decades. Founded by his great-grandfather, Al Stovall, the family business instilled in C.J. a deep-rooted commitment to family, philanthropy, civic leadership, and the creative arts. Raised in Los Alamitos, California, by his parents, Tina and Geoff Luis, C.J. grew up alongside his two brothers in a close-knit home that prioritized morals, ethics, hard work, and commitment. This strong foundation shaped his approach to many situations in life, from business strategy to musical performance. C.J.’s relationship with his grandparents was very important to him growing up. Jim and Bobbie Stovall played a huge role in his development and appreciation for humor, business, and music. Georgia and Charlie Luis, were also an extremely positive and grounding influence in his developmental years with their kindness and love.
From his earliest years, C.J. was surrounded by music and culinary traditions. Trained early as a chef specializing in authentic Italian cuisine, he discovered a powerful way to merge his culinary talents with philanthropy. Between 2010 and 2016, he served as a chef for high-profile charity events, ultimately raising over $500,000 for non-profit organizations including the Speech and Language Development Center, Meals on Wheels, and Caterina's Club Anaheim alongside Chef Bruno Serato of the Anaheim White House. Parallel to his culinary pursuits, C.J. pursued higher education at the University of San Diego, graduating from the Knauss School of Business and the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business Management and Real Estate Development, establishing the academic and analytical toolkit that would define his executive career.
Armed with business training and a lifelong immersion in the family business, C.J. embarked on a comprehensive career in hospitality management that started at the age of 15. Beginning in entry-level positions, he systematically worked through every facet of hotel operations, gaining hands-on experience in front desk oversight, reservation sales, yield management, revenue strategy, night auditing, human resources, and brand/franchise development. C.J. serves as Project Manager & Director of Community Relations / Government Affairs for Stovall's Hotels of Anaheim. He acts as the primary liaison between the hospitality group, municipal leaders, and business partners. In September 2024, he joined the Board of Directors of the Stovall Legacy Group, LLC, driving strategic expansion, sales enhancement, and managing the takeover and operational implementation of the Best Western Space Age Lodge in Arizona.
C.J.'s leadership extends into regional civic stewardship and governance. Serving as Vice President and Board Member of the Anaheim Police Foundation since December 2022, he works with municipal leaders and law enforcement executives to advance public safety technology and strengthen community relations. His administrative expertise further supports the Anaheim YMCA, where he became Board Member & Asst Treasurer in September 2024, Chairman of the Investment Committee in January 2025 in partnership with Morgan Stanley executives, and a member of the Finance Committee in November 2025. Adding to his civic portfolio, C.J. joined the Board of Directors of the Anaheim Transportation Network in January 2026, where he represents hoteliers in guiding resort district transportation decisions, strategic planning, and tourism infrastructure development.
Underpinning his business acumen and public service is a profound passion for music that has defined C.J.'s life since childhood. Immersed in jazz from birth, he was deeply influenced by his grandmother, concert pianist Bobbie Stovall, and his parents Tina and Geoff Luis. Performing publicly since the age of ten, C.J. cultivated a distinctive vocal style inspired by classic crooners and iconic vocalists, including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, and Lionel Richie. In June 2018, he formalized this lifelong passion by launching C.J. Luis Entertainment, a live music and event management venture where he serves as owner and performer.
As a professional wedding singer, solo vocalist, and live musical entertainer, C.J. has built a reputation for commanding stage presence, warm audience engagement, and timeless vocal delivery across prestigious venues, luxury hotels, private estates, and high-profile corporate galas in Orange County. His repertoire bridges Great American Songbook standards, smooth jazz, classic pop, and romantic ballads, customizing acoustic sets and big-band arrangements for intimate ceremony walks, cocktail hours, and full-scale wedding receptions. Whether delivering soulful renditions of mid-century classics or energizing private celebrations, C.J. views live musical performance, hospitality, and community leadership as unified expressions of his core philosophy: creating meaningful human connections and elevating life's landmark moments through shared, unforgettable experiences.
